My final round of trashy magazines hit my mailbox last week. The special price had ended, and let’s face it: without the Stephen King column in the one, I really had no reason to get it. We get to see a movie on the big screen maybe once a year, not counting free kids movies or “must see” kids movies.

The school system sent home an end of the year present to my family: green funk. My kids have been alternating oozing green funk out of various facial orifices. It wasn’t quite the blueberry streusel muffins and homemade jam I gave them, but hey. I would have been happy enough with the quality education my kids got!
It seems safe to say that most of us, at point or another, have been heavier than we wanted to be. I say this because January, that great month of resolutions, is chock full of reminders that we wish we were kinder to our bodies. Ads for nicotine patches and gums prevail, and weight loss ads are downright unavoidable.
I really am not a snob. I am pretty laid back about most things. I know some people cannot abide the thought of used clothing. I have been sporting my garage sale Columbia winter coat for many seasons now (though it is now too big on me). I love hand me downs and think it is great when people give me homemade jam or books and magazines they already read. Our vehicles are old and paid for.
I really do not like to leave the house in the afternoon/evening. Nothing sounds better than lounging around sans bra, wearing elastic waist pants and my slippers! However, we had to go to Chuck E. Cheese’s tonight.
