I really am not a snob.  I am pretty laid back about most things.  I know some people cannot abide the thought of used clothing.  I have been sporting my garage sale Columbia winter coat for many seasons now (though it is now too big on me).  I love hand me downs and think it is great when people give me homemade jam or books and magazines they already read.  Our vehicles are old and paid for.

I now have a cell phone.  Well, I have had a cell phone before.  The last time I had a cell phone “plan,” they didn’t take pictures and do everything but wipe your butt for you.

I have been a SAHM for about six years.  I won’t bore you with the back story of complicated schedules, sleep deprivation, and the angst that led me to ultimately leave the work force.  Things change over time.  My oldest two are in school, and my husband is no longer on call.  JD is still little, but it looked like I would be able to go back to work part time if I could find something to meet my strict criteria: I had to be home in time for my husband to leave for work.

I will always champion the single parents and military spouses.  I really do not think I am made of the material they are to handle the enormous task of parenting on my own.  While my own situation is not ideal, with my husband working second shift and every weekend, we have managed to strike up some bargains that make it seem a bit more equitable, playing on the other’s likes and dislikes.
