Summer vacation has arrived. Sadly, summer weather has not. The squabbling had reached that level where I was going to either lose my mind, or put their snow suits on them in May and send them outside to play in the gale force northerly wind.

When I was a kid I used a refrigerator box to slide down a hill. This was that fabulously-fun hill…

I remember holding on for dear life as friends pushed me over the edge, and sliding off of the box…coming home with stains even Clorox couldn’t remove. I should clarify. Grass stains.

No, no. I’m not yelling that at you in an accusatory tone of voice. Why are you so sensitive? Something you need to confess???

What I really mean is there are many different kinds of parents:
* The Crafty Parent who will set up stations of chaos fun with glue, glitter, markers, paint, egg cartons, and the like and make a wonderful, sparkly Eiffel Tower that lights up when you clap your hands three times

I started making my kids’ birthday cakes after the local bakery botched my child’s first cake. I had requested a tractor cake and placed the order at least a week beforehand. They called me the morning of the party to inform me that they did not have the adorable tractor accessories and what should they do?

Times are tough. Everyone is looking down to see if they see a shiny copper-colored coin, and it doesn’t even matter if the guy is face-up these days. I’m grateful that the check in the mail really was in the mail, and that no one’s strap broke and let “the girls” loose at the Golden Globes last night. But, I am MOST grateful that I am a 38-year-old Girl Scout. Let me rephrase that. I was grateful…

My 5-year-old loves Play-Doh, but she also loves to mix the colors to resemble swirled tootsie rolls with sprinkles…just not as tasty. So..found this and thought I’d share for those frugal moms like me…

I am a hoarder collector saver reuser of items. I was doing it long before it became fashionably “green” to reduce, reuse, recycle. I blame credit my mother and grandmother who never lost some of the depression era frugality (there was always a can of used cooking grease/lard in the house).

I “acquire” things (sometimes in quantity) and hold onto them (sometimes for too long) because you never know when you might need them.
