I have vague memories of grocery shopping with my mother when I was a child. She somehow ended up taking an elderly woman who needed a ride to the store. Kids got a free cookie from the bakery. I also remember that the bagger would help us out to our van to unload the groceries for us.

It has been a long work week without my husband here. Not all of my attempts at getting projects done were successful. There was one factor that never crossed my mind: JD would notice his Daddy was not around.
I catch myself thinking sometimes about my toddler in a most un-mom like fashion. I’ll watch her going about her toddler business, whether that is her wanting to put her shoes on before she puts any of her clothes on (undies included) or her wanting to eat everything with a spoon…chips included. I look at her and think….if she were an adult…she’d be in the looney bin.
I am not the most organized person out there. I freely admit this. Supermom? No, not me. However, I have taken what I thought were reasonable steps to make life and neatness easier to maintain. I was wrong.
Sometimes I have trouble reminding myself that JD is a full-fledged toddler. Most people refer to it as “denial.” He is my youngest, he is the last, and certainly will be my “baby” forever, right? I can only ignore those “signs” for so long, those indicators that my baby is on the path to becoming a little boy.
