There are many things in life that can be difficult to deal with.  Take death, for example.  You know it is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t help a lot when you lose someone you love.  For people like myself, who might have control issues, that feeling of helplessness is unbearable.  How to rectify it?

I don’t normally look at the inside of candy wrappers before I toss them in the garbage can, but this particular time I decided to; It was one of those yummy chocolate Dove Promises that always have some kind of message on the inside of the wrapper.  Most of the time the messages are just fun little phrases, hardly without any meaning.  But, this one Dove wrapper that I randomly chose out of a huge box, was very meaningful and filled with truth.   The message read, “If in darkness, lift your eyes to the stars.”

There are hurdles every parent must face when making decisions—whether on their own or with another parent involved–it’s never easy. But sometimes I think it is easier as a single parent because there’s no resistance—my word is the final decision. I can argue with myself, but the beauty is I always win the argument (LOL).

One of the many labels we attach to our homeschooling style is “secular”.  For us that means that we avoid curriculum based on religion or that references religious tenets in the teaching.   It does not, however, mean we ignore religion.  We teach about religion – WORLD religions.
