My 5-year-old loves Play-Doh, but she also loves to mix the colors to resemble swirled tootsie rolls with sprinkles…just not as tasty. So..found this and thought I’d share for those frugal moms like me…
From “The Preschooler’s Busy Book”:
Homemade “Play-Doh”
1 cup water
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/2 cup salt
1 Tbsp cream of tartar
food coloring
1 cup flour
Combine water, oil, salt, cream of tartar, and food coloring in a saucepan and heat until warm. Remove from heat and add flour. Stir, then knead until smooth. Keep in mind that the cream of tartar makes this dough long-lasting, up to 6 months or longer, so resist the temptation to leave it out if you don’t have it on hand. This dough should be stored in an airtight container or Ziplock bag.
Do not refrigerate.
