Not to hold more food ’cause I’m doing pretty well at keeping off the 20lbs I dropped in the last year.

I need a bigger plate to hold all the tasks and activities that I take on.  When will I ever learn to JUST SAY NO? Where is Barbara Bush when you need her the most?  Seriously – because I think I’m addicted to “doing things”.

This weekend I host a 50th birthday party for my sister.  Party planning is always frantic but it’s no fun unless you had a few twists and turns:  planning it for a location 3 hours away, throwing a party on a SERIOUSLY limited budget, getting a guest list with women who have been married 20 years but sister gives me their MAIDEN name and no phone number, address or email.  The fun just doesn’t stop.  I still have to finish the shopping, pack up for me and the kiddo, make sure the hubster has some half decent food for the weekend (he gets to stay home solo lucky dog), get the car filled, checked, etc. etc. etc.

I had my week of errands and chores all planned out.  And then we were in the “storm of the century” getting 8 inches of rain over 3 days.  Doesn’t do well for getting in/out of the car at a million stores.  Had to put some of the tasks off until later in the week.  The rain was brutal but thankfully WE didn’t get water damag.  However, too many friends and neighbors ended up with flooded basements. We’ve dug out the sump pump and loaned it out, 4 fans and spent half a day helping to move soggy boxes and furniture to the curb, the dumpster, etc.

So the errands loom and the weather is phenomenally gorgeous.   That means the kiddo WANTS to be outside riding her bike or at the playground. But I have errands and chores to get done!  No worries there – her stomach decided that this would be a good time to act up creating a need to be close to a bathroom at all times.  More juggling of errands, chores and play time.

Let’s not forget the weekly book club I run for 8 girls.  There’s the planning for the lesson and discussion and then the hour of giggling girls.  Of course the nearby park and 60+ degree weather mean that the kiddo is clamoring to be OUTSIDE with her friends afterward.

And we have school. Yes, lessons still have to be planned and administered amidst the chaos of “everything else”. I confess though:  at these times, lessons become “creative”.  As in teaching civic responsibility by helping out our flooded neighbors.

And this morning I realized that I haven’t blogged………….

So today is my “D-Day” because tomorrow we have to hit the road.  I want to be up and out the door getting it all done. Of course, this is the one time in the month when the kiddo decides to sleep late……………..

Someone shoot me now!
