Today, if you walked into my bathroom, you might have thought I had left a salad in there. But no, it was a cloth saturated with white vinegar wrapped around my faucets making you crave a green salad with vinegrette dressing.
I was de-calcifying my sink faucets. Next my tub faucet and shower head. Works great and no toxic chemicals, for those who asked. And cheap – I think a whole gallon, which last forever, costs under $2.
And leads to healthy eating! After being enticed by the scent all day, I had a lovely green salad with, yep, vinegrette dressing for dinner. Guess I’m glad I can’t clean anything with chocolate…:-)

No kidding! Chocolate cleaning products…wow, that sounds heavenly
Thank you for that, Vintage Mom! I just learned something new about decalcifying faucets! I had no clue. And yeah, I’m lucky they don’t make cleaning products smell like chocolate, too!
I use vinegar too. I use it with baking soda to clean our bathtub.. foamy and grity…and good for ya. Supposedly you can use baking soda to brush your teeth. I tried it one time…but it wasn’t too tasty. I do use it for an exfoliate (much less expensive than those big name brands and works well.) Chocolate cleaning products? You’d find me in the bathroom guzzling them ALL! Yum!
Back in the day…when my mom and dad were really impoverished, we used baking soda for brushing out teeth. After awhile you get used to the taste. Arm & Hammer have a baking soda toothpaste. Probably tastes better. Before Tums and Rolaids folks with indigestion would dissolve baking soda in water to ease their tummys. Amazing number of uses on the box.
I tried it with white vinegar for cleaning the commode, but although it foamed, it didn’t really clean it well. Have poured it down a clogged drain, then vinegar, let it work a few minutes followed by boiling water. Takes longer than the highly toxic drain cleaners, but a thousand times safer. I will try it on the bathtub.
The Husband used vinegar for our kitchen drains, I’ll have to tell him about the bathroom!
