My poor husband. He wanted to have a Super Bowl party of sorts. Mostly just having his family over and an excuse to break out the deep fryer. We aren’t really invested in any of the teams. His brothers are not sports fans. Our kids aren’t really old enough to sit still and watch a long winded sporting event. Me? Let me know when the commercials are on!

It’s not a secret. Sometimes marriage sucks. Men and women just don’t think alike. Maybe that’s why John Gray has made millions. How can you love somebody and yet detest them with every fiber of your being. How does that happen when 15 years ago you couldn’t wait to spend an evening hanging out with them?

My final round of trashy magazines hit my mailbox last week. The special price had ended, and let’s face it: without the Stephen King column in the one, I really had no reason to get it. We get to see a movie on the big screen maybe once a year, not counting free kids movies or “must see” kids movies.

I love to get my fry on. Sure, I try to feed my family healthy foods. We have a garden that provides us with many of our vegetables; plus strawberries, grapes and apples grow in the yard. We don’t eat out all that often, but enough that my youngest knows to say “mmm” when he sees the Golden Arches or any given fast food joint. I watch Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution and rejoice that our children’s private school serves primarily “homemade” foods.

It’s always weird to hit one of “those” birthdays. Today I turned 35. Nothing special about turning 35. It’s not like being able to vote or buy booze. Nevertheless, it feels momentous. Maybe because I have moved up that box, and am no longer in the 18-34 category.
