There should be a support group for mothers of picky eaters. Heck, maybe there is. They probably meet at a fast food joint with a play area and bemoan how their child will eat that processed dreck and turn up their nose at food that actually contains something besides fat and sodium. I just avoid those play areas because it means my kids will ooze green mucus for six weeks straight.

I love to cook. No, really! I do! I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I love to eat. The problem of late is that I am no longer enjoying my cooking. I seem to be in a rut again. Nothing sounds good. Oh, have no fear. I am not wasting away or anything. I just can’t seem to put my finger on what it is that I would enjoy eating.

I really am not a snob. I am pretty laid back about most things. I know some people cannot abide the thought of used clothing. I have been sporting my garage sale Columbia winter coat for many seasons now (though it is now too big on me). I love hand me downs and think it is great when people give me homemade jam or books and magazines they already read. Our vehicles are old and paid for.

I am a 30-something Facebook junkie. Next year I'll be a 40-year-old Facebook junkie. Better than a 40-year-old virgin. You'd think...but that might be an entire other blog post in itself. Just sayin'. The fact is, Mark Zuckerberg was on to something when he one-upped Myspace Tom -you know Myspace Tom, he's everybody's friend friend hoarder...

A couple of years ago, like many others, I flew from the "kooky coop" for a bit of friendly banter with "real" people. Don't throw rotten tomatoes if I once called you my Myspace friend and now you are my IRL friend. Just ask yourself, "How long did that take? Was it really worth it?" Oh, and then don't delete me.

One of the great things about living in my town in Michigan is that it is farm country. There is just something to be said about living where food is grown. Most areas around here have festivals celebrating their major crop, thus we have pickle, corn, and potato festivals to name a few.

The food battle wages on our in household. I continue to prepare meals for my children, and they continue to eye them with great suspicion and sometimes outright disdain.

I had heard of the Sneaky Chef. While it sounded good in theory, I couldn’t see myself prepping up these mysterious blends of fruits and vegetables to slip into our meals. Not to mention Linus pretty much won’t eat anything you could reasonably sneak a vegetable into. My homemade spaghetti sauce was loaded with pureed vegetables. Linus quit eating spaghetti.

My Grams will frequently lament on those days she has to run errands how she hates to go home to a house that doesn’t smell nice. By this she means, no good food smells. I have to agree. In the dark days of winter, a house does seem warmer when the aroma of a meal on the stove is tantalizing you. It isn’t that often that her home doesn’t yank at your appetite. I have merely stepped on her porch and caught a whiff of something that made my stomach growl.

Look, there's no revelation or light bulb that goes off. When you are pregnant, irrational thoughts such as "I don't know why World War II couldn't have been solved with a slice of chocolate cake and a pint of Chubby Hubby" constantly bombard what is left of your sanity. For some with a rotund belly, they dream of donuts or funnel cakes... under a blanket of powdered sugar. And yes, sometimes that blanket of powdered sugar also gets put on those fried delights as well. Given the circumstances I am craving toast; I think it started with this...
