My life is like that movie “Groundhog Day.”  Yes, it feels like I am living the same day, over and over, until I finally get it right.

I had a hearty laugh when I saw this gem at the bookstore.  Doesn’t it just make you think of all the things you have had to do as a mom, with only one arm free?  Or even a leg.  JD has learned that clinging to my pants and crying is a very effective way of communicating that 1) I have soiled myself or 2) I need milk desperately.

The food battle wages on our in household.  I continue to prepare meals for my children, and they continue to eye them with great suspicion and sometimes outright disdain.

I had heard of the Sneaky Chef.  While it sounded good in theory, I couldn’t see myself prepping up these mysterious blends of fruits and vegetables to slip into our meals.  Not to mention Linus pretty much won’t eat anything you could reasonably sneak a vegetable into.  My homemade spaghetti sauce was loaded with pureed vegetables.  Linus quit eating spaghetti.

My Grams will frequently lament on those days she has to run errands how she hates to go home to a house that doesn’t smell nice.  By this she means, no good food smells.  I have to agree.  In the dark days of winter, a house does seem warmer when the aroma of a meal on the stove is tantalizing you.  It isn’t that often that her home doesn’t yank at your appetite.  I have merely stepped on her porch and caught a whiff of something that made my stomach growl.

Look, there’s no revelation or light bulb that goes off. When you are pregnant, irrational thoughts such as “I don’t know why World War II couldn’t have been solved with a slice of chocolate cake and a pint of Chubby Hubby” constantly bombard what is left of your sanity. For some with a rotund belly, they dream of donuts or funnel cakes… under a blanket of powdered sugar. And yes, sometimes that blanket of powdered sugar also gets put on those fried delights as well. Given the circumstances I am craving toast; I think it started with this…
