I have been in a new level of parenting lately.  I hate to admit that I trudge along in the daily grind so much that I don’t see the forest for the trees.

There are things you should know when you have a baby, and then there are things you learn; sometimes those lines are blurred. Like way back when, when Madison was about 3 months. She cried every time I put her down and her nights and days were definitely confused. This went on for two more months. I was confused and utterly exhausted. I met an older gentleman who told me I should turn the baby upside down to reset its clock. I was skeptical but he assured me his Mother knew what she was talking about. Let’s just say, Madison loves to do cartwheels but isn’t in a hurry to get anywhere anytime soon. What can I say? You take desperate measures when you don’t know your name, your address and don’t remember what a zip code is. Just sayin’.

The kiddo and I went to the flower show yesterday.  Masses of people, not that many flowers and lots of overpriced vendors. Bus loads of garden club and senior center tours – very few people below the age of ….let’s say 50 years.   When it was time to eat we found a square of unoccupied floor. Yes, floor…they set up about 10 tables near an overpriced cafe — – – for hundreds of people…. “older” people in wheelchairs and walkers.  We’re young enough that we could camp out on the floor with our bagged lunch.  We camped out right near the trash bins.

As a homeschooling mom, I’m always on the look-out for age appropriate FREE educational resources to guide, fulfill or supplement my teaching.   I’ve found that using a variety of media keeps the learning interesting – – especially in the winter when the weather means we’re stuck in the house looking at each other over the dining room table….again.    There are simply days when neither of us wants to see another book or worksheet.

I wish Handy Manny lived next door to me. He’s so nice, and helpful. All of his tools are nice, and helpful. In fact, his tools not only know what to do without Manny but they talk so nicely to one another.
