Let me preface this with: I am in no way a professional barber.  I am just cheap.

I cut my family’s hair.  I even trim my own bangs, though I haven’t lately.  The woman who cuts my hair (3-4 times a year, whether it needs it or not) gets a little frownie line between her eyes when she sees I have taken the scissors to my hair.  I figure it is safe to say I am not exceptionally good at it.

Sometimes we make mistakes as parents.  It happens.  We get tired, frustrated, suffer from poor judgement or sleep loss, or just get plain delusional.  Sometimes circumstances just work against us.

Which is how I ended up taking three kids grocery shopping.  It doesn’t happen that often.  Between school and the mixed blessing of my husband’s odd ball work schedule, I can usually find a way to gather the food without their presence.  But at least once during the summer, I find myself needing to shop when he is gone, and I haul my brood with me.

The school system sent home an end of the year present to my family: green funk.  My kids have been alternating oozing green funk out of various facial orifices.  It wasn’t quite the blueberry streusel muffins and homemade jam I gave them, but hey.  I would have been happy enough with the quality education my kids got!

In real life, I am probably not much like I seem here.  In fact, those who knew me when I was writing for a less open site, they can probably vouch for that.  I am way more censored now.  ANYONE could read this, so I am more reserved.

There are several levels of clean to be achieved.  They all seem to depend on exactly who is walking through your door.  Immediate family?  Not a problem.  People who have small children and understand your plight, therefore won’t pull out white gloves?  Again, not so bad.  However, there is a fine line between “company we don’t see that often” and “Child Protective Services” clean.  Really, there is nothing like having certain folks come across the threshold that makes all the clutter and grime just jump in your face and scream SLACKER!  Never you mind it was all livable and quite honestly, invisible to your eyes, until they showed up.
