I Could Have Been a Michael Jackson (The Mouse) Wannabe

I am in need of Super-Duper-Massive-Strength Tylenol. I just opened the packet from Madison’s Open House and apparently I will need homeschooling this year. Our elementary school’s policy is that parents may visit at any time. I wonder if the 1st Grade teacher will be willing to give me a kid-sized desk and a paper name plate? Magnetic Poles…Sacagawea? Here I come!

No Fly Zone

Summer calls for salad and “getting healthy”. After all, it’s not pretty after you chow down on pasta and pass out from a carb coma…

Just sayin’.

The only negative to salad and a new health kick is that apparently our neighborhood flies are on the band wagon too. Every time I open the back door to fire up our Weber, one of them takes it as an open invitation to come in and fondle our leaf lettuce. Last week I even saw one land on the remote. I think he was trying to press “rewind” for the P90X toll-free number. Don’t feel sorry for him. He wouldn’t have made it past week 3. Yup, my “Mr. Miyagi” karate chop, not only ended any chance of him bulking up, but pretty much did him in.

Allow Me To Introduce Myself

I am so excited and honored to be a part of such an amazing group of Hottie-McHottie writers!  I will do my best to not let you down or offend (too much).

Not That There’s Anything Wrong With That…..

One of the hard parts of being a stay at home mom is being around your kids all the time.  Ok, I know that is a gimmee.  I mean more in the sense that I have grown used to their little eccentricities.  I don’t really notice them anymore unless they are really aggravating, or I put us in a social situation that rather highlights their quirks.

Blue fingers and aggravation

I started making my kids’ birthday cakes after the local bakery botched my child’s first cake.  I had requested a tractor cake and placed the order at least a week beforehand.  They called me the morning of the party to inform me that they did not have the adorable tractor accessories and what should they do?

Magic Eggs

I will admit that I get frustrated with the holiday hoopla at times.  There is a lot of prep work that goes into holidays and family traditions.  I almost needed to breathe into a paper bag after realizing all the things I had yet to do (like buy candy!).

I need a bigger plate

Not to hold more food ’cause I’m doing pretty well at keeping off the 20lbs I dropped in the last year.

I need a bigger plate to hold all the tasks and activities that I take on.  When will I ever learn to JUST SAY NO? Where is Barbara Bush when you need her the most?  Seriously – because I think I’m addicted to “doing things”.

Raising a Warlord

As a mom to three boys, I am often amazed at just how different boys and girls are.  I know that sounds a bit, well, duh!  I tell myself my oldest said “mama” before he said “tactah” (tractor) but really, it was a toss up.  I took him to the hardware store when he was a mere toddler.  His face lit up as if he had finally found where he belonged.  He was just naturally drawn to “boy” things.

Day 8 – Freudian Clip

It’s sad when one finds amusement in little jagged-edged colorful clippings. Every week I challenge myself to see how much I can save, and the more I save, the better I feel. Some women shop for shoes, but since my pregnant cankles are here to stay for the next month or so, in my book, a BOGO and a manufacturer’s coupon beats any DSW friends and family sale.

Seriously, why is there a “mental hurrah” behind saving a buck or two? Is there a Freudian theory that can be connected to this new obsession…?

The Oddball Olympics

I love the Olympic games! In a prior blog, I gave an outline of a multiweek Olympic Games session I’m doing with our homeschool group.  Well we had round one of the games and, for inquiring minds, here are some of the things we played.  Note that these are games I found in a variety of books and adapted to suit our needs: variety of ages, abilities, limited indoor space, etc.   Hope you too can use some of these outrageously funny games!
