This morning I was sitting at the kitchen table with Madison. She grinned and announced, “Yesterday Daddy made me a cocktail.” I assured her that Daddy would never have made a cocktail but she insisted. “He even split a grape and put it on the cup!” I immediately ran upstairs and asked if our 5-year-old would be joining AA in the near future.

There is so much about parenting that you just have to learn the hard way.
The other night, my husband and his mom were going to bathe the baby while I finished up in the kitchen. MIL had already logged some time helping with the dishes, bless her, because no one else does. As my husband went to change the baby, I said “he is filthy and needs a bath.”
Well of COURSE I knew that already. I just didn’t expect my 7 year old daughter to know it – at least not so soon. I thought I had another few years of deception before she figured it all out and started hiding me from her friends.
