….must come down.

You probably learned that when you were only 2 years old.

It’s a lie.  A flat out bold faced lie.  And I have proof.

My electric bill has gone up consistently – for about 5 years now.  Hasn’t come down yet.

Gasoline prices have risen at ridiculous rates. They come down a few cents here and there but go right back up.

The cost of my groceries continues to go up, up, up.  Matter of fact, not only is the price going up but the package sizes are getting smaller.   Seriously!  One particular manufacturer used to offer 1/2 gallon cartons of ice cream.   Now, the price is the same but the packaging is smaller – no more 1/2 gallon!

Oh and the satellite television service is doing the same thing.  Same price but magically, channels disappear from the line up with no notice or warning.  If we want them back, we have to subscribe to a NEW PACKAGE which……………………costs more.

So far not one single item that I have to manage to pay each month has gone down. Not one.  My measly dollar is s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d to the absolute limit and (truth be told) beyond because the only thing NOT going up is our income.

  1. Sing it, sister! Our utility bill was jaw dropping since they didn’t read the meter back in December and just estimated our usage. The next month? Almost double the previous month’s. I hate to think what it would be if I put the thermostat over 68 and used the dryer for more than bedding and socks!

I suspect you have Direct TV….

68?! My family would worship the ground I walked on if I allowed the heat to go to 68 degrees. Seriously. This year I introduced the novel concept of SWEATERS, SOCKS, SLIPPERS and blankets…and all have survived without freezing to death. Thank goodness for a relatively mild winter here.

Yep – DirecTV – wait a day and see what channel has been dropped….

    • We have that same winter concept. We’re lucky when people visit they don’t leave with icicles in their pockets. We’ve kind of gotten used to it though. I think it’s all relative. I think, to have something come down, you have to switch companies. I just took my second phone line away from AT&T and suddenly they are worried that they are going to lose my business. Discounts? You betcha. In fact, they are offering something called the U200 plan which includes a $300 rebate check to do with whatever you please. We’re checking in to this… Gotta love competition threatening monopolies.
